Shortcuts. We all love a shortcut every now and then! Anything to make our lives a little easier.

On Monday morning when I was setting up my first QBO file and connecting it to the ANZ bank feed (I’m pretty sure that was it)… I was asked to find my company ID so that ANZ knew which file to point my bank feeds to…

The way to do this was to hit CTRL + ALT + ?

And what did I find?

My Company ID and a heap of Keyboard Shortcuts for getting around QBO faster. Now all I have to do is remember that they are there… and I have to remember CTRL + ALT [or OPTION] + ? when I want to remember what they are.

I looked for the same in Xero as the only shortcuts I know of is the Quick Add or + menu in the top menu bar. Here’s what I found…

A post in the Xero community which says that’s it… but then I searched a little further because my brain was telling me I’d seen something somewhere before.

So here’s the rundown:

1. I’ve already told you how to use the QBO shortcuts. They are easy to find even when you forget and easy to use.
2. Xero does have keyboard shortcuts (you can read more about them here:

Keyboard shortcuts

Both Xero and QBO have keyboard shortcuts. I found QBO’s easier to use and find if I forget them.

I have to say it took me a little while to work out how to use Xero’s keyboard shortcuts but I think I am just so used to the way things are done normally that I wasn’t reading the

Have a go at using both Keyboard Shortcuts and let me know which one you prefer.

Over the next few weeks I’m going to sharing with you the QBO vs Xero Project. Most of the action will be over at my Jeri Murphy Facebook page with posts and livestreams. If you don’t want to miss it, best got on over there and like my Jeri Murphy page. 🙂
